We’re Mushroom Culture, a family of five based in Perth, Tasmania β€” Chris, Sam, and our three kids, Edison, Alessia, and Aria. What started as a small family passion has grown into a thriving mushroom farm right at our home, where we’ve been proudly producing fresh gourmet mushrooms, grow kits, and mushroom products for over five years.

Since the beginning, we’ve been sharing our love of mushrooms with local restaurants and the public through farmers’ markets. In 2025, Chris made the big decision to step away from his full-time career in banking to upscale and improve Mushroom Culture, allowing us to focus fully on bringing the joy of mushrooms to more people.

Today, along with our fresh produce and grow kits, we’re excited to offer a growing range of mushroom cultures, growing supplies, and supplements through our new online store.

Hi! I'm Chris

I’m Chris Harris, the founder of Mushroom Culture. I’ve been growing mushrooms for over 6 years and my passion for all things mycology only continues to grow. Coming from a chef background, I bring a deep love of food and flavour to everything I do, and mushrooms quickly became the perfect blend of science, sustainability, and culinary creativity.

I started Mushroom Culture with a simple mission: to help and guide people on their own mushroom journey. Whether you’re a beginner curious about grow kits, a hobby grower expanding your skills, or a family discovering the joy of fresh gourmet mushrooms, I’m here to share my knowledge and make the process simple, fun, and rewarding.
